Haven't posted in a LONG time
Lots, lots going on, much boring medical issues and a Professionals con coming up, so I am thrilled. Mostly this post is to practice doing a cut, which I never have on Dreamwidth. So here goes--
I am posting a story in a Lewis challenge next Monday and want to use the cut so the post isn't as long as the last time I participated in that group.
I've been off work all of July because of a bacterial abcess behind my right ear that required antibiotics and packing the wound. (ick) Apparently it was because the skin that was irradiated last summer after cancer surgery doesn't heal as well as most tissue does. I was really frustrated when the nursery was super busy and I could have earned some good overtime. (as well as holiday pay on July fourth. Honestly, taking Demelza and her friend to the county fair and spending money that day instead kind of made me cranky!) All month, I felt like a pampered poodle because aside from the wound, I felt fantastic once the antibiotics kicked out the bug. so I had a summer vacation of sorts when I would have rather worked. Lol I was released to go back to work next week, but had a long standing actual vacation for this con--plane tickets and all, so I return on 8/15 to baby nursery land.
Did get writing done. A Lewis story and a lot on my Pros big bang. That was a relief because I really didn't know where that bugger was going for the longest time. Not to mention that I did turn in a story for the Pros con zine in June, and a story and a drabble for the October Sharecon zine.
Demelza has been at away camp since Saturday. She loves it there. The house has been really quiet without her! I drive down to Santa Cruz to pick her up tomorrow.
Now let's see it this cut worked.

Glad you're feeling better and writing. Just don't push too hard, you've got conventions to attend!

Boo for the bacterial infection and then being off for an entire month. I mean, yes, nice to have the time off, but not when it's not your choice and you'd've had some prime opportunities for extra money. I hope everything heals properly!
Yay for writing and, especially, for BistoCon!

I was concerned when I learned about what you've been going through and very relieved to learn that you are mending. I did not know that skin in that area is slow to heal; I wonder why that is?
Yay! for returning to your baby nursery. I'm sure the folks there are counting the days until you return.

Apparently, the radiation treatment (now over a year ago) just damages the skin. I don't know if that is forever or for a time, but the wound is healing well, just very slowly.
